Re: Realtek LAN driver for Kubuntu operating system

You have installed the Kubuntu operating system in the compaq computer system after the old os that is the Windows XP crashed. After installing the Kubuntu you are not able to access the Internet from the computer system using the LAN card. You need to install the driver software for the Realtek LAN card in this operating system to access the internet. You can install the drivers for this OS from the software disc provided with the LAN Card if it has the software for the Linux operating systems included.

If the driver software is not included in the disc provided with the Realtek LAN Card then you can download the Driver software for this LAN Card from the official website of the Linux or the Kubuntu compatible with the version which you are using. Download and install it properly. After that reboot the computer system to take the installation effect that you have made by the installing the driver software for the Realtek LAN Card.

Re: Realtek LAN driver for Kubuntu operating system

If you are having the driver installed in the Kubuntu OS in the computer which is compatible with the Windows XP operating system which you were using in the Windows XP operating system. This driver software will not work with the Kubuntu operating system. Search on the google for the drivers for this operating system and specially the version of the operating system. Uninstall the XP driver software and install the driver sofetware for the Kubuntu operating system.

If you are not having the driver software for the Realtek LAN card in the installation disc and also not able to find it on the website of the linux or the Kubuntu then you are having one more option available. Go to the website of the Realtek itself. enter the model number of the realtek LAN Crad that you are using in your compaq computer system. Download the lan software and install it in the computer restart the system after installation. Start browsing on the internet.

Re: Realtek LAN driver for Kubuntu operating system

I was also having the same kind of the problem with the Ubuntu operating system. after that i disconnected the IDE hard drives of the computer system and connected the sata hard drive. I installed the 32 bit version of the ubuntu, earlier i had installed the 64 bit version of this OS. After installing the 32 bit OS when i tried to connect to the internet it worked. So if you are also installing the 64 bit version of OS then remove it and install the 32 bit OS of the Kubuntu. May be this can work in your case also.
