    Configure network in ubuntu

    Hi,
I have a desktop computer. It is not showing any network. The PC is running on Ubuntu. It is a Linux based operating system. But the same was configured by my friend last time and it was working fine. I have some Windows computer also on the network. Those were too visible at that time. But there no recently changes or settings made yet. So how come the network disappears. And I does not know the configuration settings for that. Help needed. Thanks

In the Linux Desktop Launch bar is usually located at the top, but as in Windows can be placed on any side of the screen and even hidden. On the toolbar appear hits: applications (OpenOffice, accessories), places (disks or partitions on the HD), System (OS Tools and administration). It is here that system is enclosed in red circle where we display the menu and you will get two main options, Administration and Preferences. From here you can configure your network back again.

By deploying administration displays a menu with all the components in our OS and computer. Go to System > Administration > Network. The upcoming windows is the place where LAN configuration is needed. You have do proper settings here. Remember settings are different for LAN and wireless connection. If you are not really aware then take someones help. Another example is the use of proxy in Linux that can sometimes block the navigation, this also configured so that the PC identifies that you are connecting directly to the Internet, follow the following path: System> Preferences> Proxy. Here we choose direct internet connection or the proxy that handles the network as appropriate.

    Re: Configure network in ubuntu

As you enter the Network from System > Administration you can see a pop windows. This is the place where you have to configure the dynamic or static IP as applicable. Selected in the Connections tab called wired connection. Here you can configure the IP properly to make your PC appear on wireless LAN card and also if you have multiple connections or network cards.

Finally Ubuntu-Linux as the latest versions of Mandriva, Red Hat, Suse, Debian and MAC has a similar network testing that are a bit more user friendly than the terminal you can find in applications to enter this miscellany must follow the following path System> Administration> Network Tools, here we can make all the network tests that we need to establish a possible problem.

In the network option go on the right side of the window press the button called Properties. Disable roaming mode indicating to be enabled for text boxes below (the option to traveling is that Linux automatically detects network settings when you connect a Linux PC to network). Now select settings automatic or static IP configuration as appropriate. Check this properly before applying otherwise your network will not work. It also happen if the workgroup is changed.

    Re: Configure network in ubuntu

In the Network section If not making the changes immediately and PC takes 0.0.0.0 or 169.254.xx IP is ready to restart the PC and have configured the IP, otherwise see the following window in which we can configure the DNS (if not placed anything in Linux boxes are assumed to be automatic) is the default option in the general tab put the name with which we want to display the PC on the server you are connecting (it does not matter what is placed there) and hosts Data are the advanced settings on the adapter being used.
