GPO not working, Error : The policy object does not exist

    Hi,

I created an organizational unit (OU) called restricted group. Group Policy works on all computers except one, Windows XP Pro with SP2. Using gpresult, I receive receive this message "The policy object does not exist" What does that mean?

The Group Policy Object (GPO) might be damaged and can not access. Check the following things :

    1. If all teams receive the same error, use gpupdate/force on the server to update the policy.

    2. It's just a computer has this problem, use gpupdate/force on the computer.

    3. You may want to delete and recreate the policy.

    4. If you have more than one DC, make sure that replication is working without problem -

    5. Do you have correct DNS or WINS settings.

What GPO that applies to your client? Have you renewed the Group Policy setting? Do you have correct DNS settings? Have you checked the health of Group Policy objects on domain controllers? Accounts are in the correct organizational unit (OU)?

You already have a user in AD Users and Computers so that the user simply has to move to the OU that you create. Then link the Group's policy to the OU, which I think you already know how. You can try some of these commands in the gpresult cmd / user <USERNAME> and if you have not I tried gpupdate, then try it.

It seems to be related to DNS in the client computer cannot find the registration of a domain controller. You need to run the netdiag support tool on the workstation and the domain controllers for DNS problems, domain membership, trust / etc secure channel gpotool also run the support tool in a domain controller and see if all the domain controllers to identify
