What are the layers of Cloud computing

    Hi,
Cloud computing is the latest trend which is going to get applicable soon. I was reading an article which states the about the definition and working of cloud computing. I want to know on which layers does cloud computing works. Like the hardware, application and the types of platform. It is a complicated technology though very useful. Soon cloud based operating system will become a need of a market. Thanks in advance.

Although other authors often use a smaller number of layers, we will use the five-layer model. I will show you a chronological order of the same. It starts with SAAS, then comes PAAS, IAAS, Virtualization and Hardware. This is the basic layer on which the technology works on. But still there is a lot more time to put this in full use. However, we must keep in mind that other types of clouds whose layers may have different uses or functions.

The hardware is one of the base layer which works importantly for clouding. You can see that that hardware has its important on its place. As its name suggests in this layer are all physical devices that run on the cloud, halls and corridors with thousands of computers stacked on top of each other. In case all this hardware is found in Google's datacenters. I recommend to watch this video to give you an idea of what is just one of the many data centers Google has around the world. This is the physical part of the grid. Some of the computers will be used to store data, others to process information, to store other files, etc.. All our searches, our emails from gmail, until recently our calendars and our documents are in those computers.

The most basic layers on which the clouding relies is SAAS, PAAS and IAAS. SAAS stands for software as a service. This includes a full application, customization options, meeting enterprises requirements, etc. The second one is PAAS. This stands for Platform as a service. This fulfills the need of direct management of database and cloud based operating system, API, etc. The third on IAAS stands for Infrastructure as a service. Here the main idea is that there should be no need of a datacenter. That means you does not need to buy a data center and manage entire thing physically.

As with all computers and all types of devices in general the above hardware layer is the operating system. Other clouds what they do is install an operating system very low on the hardware and install the operating system reduced with VMWare virtual machines, VirtualBox, etc. All this, of course, involves a loss of performance. This performance not only lost but also goes beyond what a traditional file system. It is a distributed file system in which hundreds or thousands of computers. Thinking that was designed into the hardware failures are not the exception but the rule.

Re: What are the layers of Cloud computing

Well, now we have a huge network of computers arranged in datacenters that have a reduced operating system and filesystem-made. The next step is to specialize to computers that are in that network, so that some of them deal with storing files, saving other databases, etc., and thereby continue to build our cloud based on a grid structure . As has its own file system, also has its own storage system. This system is not a DATABASE and is known by the name of Bigtable. At the PAAS level, it is a layer that gives you access to the platform below it but not details. In this way you can develop applications using a layer that will use hardware resources to which we can never access. The infinite storage, unlimited resources, high availability, etc. are already guaranteed through the grid, which we now find facilities and resources will allow us to use them.
