    SquidGuard configuration

    Hi
I work on the principle of url filtering through my internship, I use squid as proxy cache and squidGard, after downloading the blacklist and when I type the following command
    Code:
    "squidGuard-C all"
I found the file squidGuard.log code which described the following error
2009-12-18 [2355] destblock good missing active content, set inactive
2009-12-18 [2355] destblock local missing active content, set inactive
    2009-12-18 [2355] init domainlist / var / squidGuard / blacklists / blacklists / porn / domains
    2009-12-18 [2355] loading dbfile / var / squidGuard / blacklists / blacklists / porn / domains.db
    2009-12-18 [2355] db_open Error: Permission denied
2009-12-18 [2355] Going into emergency mode
Can any one help me with this issue. Any help will be appreciated.

I think you can change the owner for squid to solve this problem. Just issue the following command in the terminal as a root user.
    Code:
    chown -R squid
Ot alternatively you can change the user that is sunning the squid, I have not tried this option but this should work without any problem.

I did as you said with the USER 'proxy'. When I try to make a home for squid it works fine and when I issue the command
    Code:
    'ps aux | grep squid'
I found that the root is the same. Any advice on this, or solution for this.

    Hi
    Code:
    'ps aux | grep squid'
I have no idea about this and I even do not know which linux distribution you are using. If you are using mandriva linux distribution then you can use the following to get the same results.
    Code:
    service squid restart
Hope this may help you. Any more queries then do post back.

I uses the platform fedora 11. I did tried mandriva for some period but I was not comfortable with the system, so i changed to fedora 11. Is that on fedora the squid does not boot? I only know how to assign the use proxy a squid.

No, actually I did not come out my crystal ball to know what distro you use.

Well looking fedora command to restart a service, then just visit their official site and you will find it. Best of luck.
