Unable to delete Win32/Citeary.B worm

I have bought a new Dell desktop last week. Here are it configurations:
Quote:
Dell Inspiron Desktop 560s:
Operating System: Windows 7.
Hard disk: SATA 320 GB Hard disk.
Processor: Intal Core 2 Duo E7500.
Graphic card: ATI Radeon HD 4350 (512 MB).
Memory: DDR3 2gigs RAM.
I have hardly used my new dell desktop for a week and my Symantec anti virus is detecting Win32/Citeary.B worm which it is unable to delete.

Turn On Windows Firewall

It can be due to the Windows Firewall been turned off. In case its turned off you can turn it on in the following manner:
  1. Open Windows Firewall by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, and then clicking Control Panel. In the search box, type firewall, and then click Windows Firewall.
  2. In the left pane, click Turn Windows Firewall on or off. Administrator permission required If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
  3. Click Turn on Windows Firewall under each network location that you want to help protect, and then click OK.
After this you may scan your computer again with your Symantec anti virus to delete the worm.

AVAST: Schedule Boot Time Scan

I would suggest you to uninstall your Symantec anti virus as it is unable to delete the worm. I am using Avast anti virus. And it is very secured. It has a unique feature of Boot Time Scanning using which you can schedule a Booting time scan to detect the virus before the operating system loads. So i suggest you download AVAST and schedule a boot time scan.

Restore Windows 7

The System Restore utility of Windows might sort out the issue for you. Go to the Start Menu and locate your Windows Search Box. In the search box fill in Restore. Now at the top of the Start the System Restore will be displayed. Select the System Restore to restore your Windows 7.
