Transferring files from windows 7 to windows XP

HI. I have two desktop machines one loaded with Windows 7 and other with windows Xp operating system. Also these systems are interconnected to each other via cables and is setup as a home network. Now I want to know how can I transfer files from my windows 7 machine to windows Xp one. It takes a long time to share the files instead it should take lesser time.Please guide and help me out. Thank you.

The sharing of files form one system to the other at a faster rate needs certain parameters to be checked that is essential for the same. They are as follows:

1) The DNS server should be enabled.
2) The gateway settings should be proper.
3) The IP address address assigned should be proper.
4) The netBIOS over TCP/IP should be Switched on that is IPV6.
5) Check the DHCP for correct settings.
6) Update the firmware and drivers.

Check for the connection that is the router may have some issues related to it due to which it is not allowing the files to be shared at faster rate. The cables that is been used also has the reliability in order to share files. This basically resembles that for better transfer of files the cables that is attached to the RJ45 port should be of good quality with proper portability.

Run you system under safe mode in order to work on for transferring of files to other system. This should enable you to work on the things properly that is at faster rate by following certain procedures.

1) Disable the SNP service in windows 7 by setting the registry that is

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters]

After dong this you need to navigate by follows:

EnableTCPChimney=dword:00000000
EnableTCPA=dword:00000000
EnableRSS=dword:00000000

But before performing this step you need to take the backup of your system.

2) After this thare are certain commands that you need use. They are:
netsh interface tcp set global rss=disabled.
netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled
netsh int ip set global taskoffload=disabled.

There are some other policies or procedures that you can follow to make your system to transfer files at a faster rate. You need to enable the netbios over TCP/IP in windows 7 operating system.

a) Go to the start menu then to control panel.
b) Select the Internet/Network connections.
c) Right click on the connections and select properties.
d) Click the TCP/IP version 4 in the list.
e) Click on advanced tab and then to advanced tcp/ip settings go to WINS tab.
f) Under the Netbios option make it enabled. Click ok and then see the changes.

The problem may seems to be between the DFS and replication with the R2k3 server. This has to be kept under check. The other things which you could do is to perform a trouble shoot process to the system through which you are facing the problem. This can be done by the utility disc provided by the operating system or related to the desired one.

I would check the throughput of the local copy job:

choose one folder and/or zip up a large file (1GB+) and copy it from Windows 7 to Windows 7 machine -- how many seconds did it take and how large the folder/file was ?

choose one folder and/or zip up a large file (1GB+) and copy it from Windows XP to Windows XP machine -- how many seconds did it take and how large the folder/file was ?

create two identical folders and/or large (1GB+) files on both computers, then
test if copying from computer A to computer B has the same speed as copying from computer B to computer A
