Zenith HERO PC G31 desktop attacked by Win32/Autorun.gen!inf

I am using a Zenith HERO PC G31 desktop. This desktop has Intel Pentium Processor E5200 and an Intel G31 Motherboard. It has a 2GB Memory along with 320 Gb hard drive. I am using Genuine Windows 7 Professional operating system. The problem is that my desktop is attacked by a malicious program which I am unaware of to terminate. The anti virus alert message indentifies it as Win32/Autorun.gen!inf. Is it a virus or worm or trojan?

This is an indication that your desktop is infected by the Win32/Autorun.gen!inf worm. This worm uses the autorun.inf. The Win32/Autorun.gen!inf worm also creates a copy of autorun.inf file for infecting your desktop and also spreading the infection. This worm generally spreads through internet or USB drives. Scan your desktop as soon as possible.

Update your anti virus. Boot your system in safe mode. In the safe mode the third party programs are not allowed to execute. Also disconnect your computer from the internet. Now run a full system scan using your anti virus. Once the virus is detected delete it. And next time make sure to always keep your anti virus updated.

I feel you need to change your anti virus as your anti virus is failing to delete the worm- Win32/Autorun.gen!inf. I am using Norton Internet Security 2009 anti virus. My computer was also infected by this virus through a pen drive. But my Norton anti virus easily detected and deleted this worm instantly. Download Norton Internet Security 2009 to secure your computer as well.
