Is Trojan.Agent/Gen-CDesc[X] a virus?

I am using an HP desktop with Windows XP service Pack 2 and my browser is IE 7.0. I keep downloading movies and such other stuff from the web. I use Kaspersky antivirus and recently got an alert saying:"Trojan.Agent/Gen-CDesc[X]". Since, I do not have much information about computers, I want to know whether Trojan.Agent/Gen-CDesc[X] is a virus and if yes, how to eradicate it?

Yes indeed, Trojan.Agent/Gen-CDesc[X] is a virus. It is actually a trojan horse program(the name itself suggets that its a trojan horse virus). A trojan horse program is one that appears to be something and behaves as something else. Since, you do not know what the code does, you cannot expect what changes will be executed in the system. The only option left is to format and install a fresh version of windows.

Re: Is C a virus?

Trojan.Agent/Gen-CDesc[X] is a trojan horse virus having malicious code in it. It executes a code which we cannot expect. It is very easy to remove this virus. You just need to scan your computer with the antivirus you have. It will detect the trojan and you to simply need to delete it from the antivirus interface where it gives the option to delete.

Re: Is Trojan.Agent/Gen-CDesc[X] a virus?

Trojan types of viruses can be easily deleted with the help of a well updated antivirus like AVG, which I feel is the best antivirus I have ever used. As the name tells us Trojan.Agent/Gen-CDesc[X] is also a trojan horse virus and can be removed with the help of AVG.
Download the latest version of AVG from the link below:
AVG Internet Security 9.0.707 Build 1765
