Install IPCop but having network connection problem

    Here is my network configuration:
the advent of DSL which goes to the box.
In the box there are 3 cables:
    - One for the TV (the TV socket)
    - One for a Tower (TestExt)
    - One for IPCop.
So, after the IPCop, the Internet and the output switch.
    On the switch:
    - Laptop (PortInt)
    - A fixed (FixInt)

    This is the test configuration.

My concern: I know nothing of any network, and I never saw a machine operation in IPCop. Following in the same network, I am very motivated to put IPCop because it is a network printer that should happen, and I also want to put a tower in the geexbox to a PC that connects to the TV.

And now the concern at the network:
    - ping on FixInt for FixInt, IPCop and PortInt: it works
    - ping on PortInt for PortInt, IPCop and FixInt: it works
    - ping on IPCop for IPCop, FixInt and PortInt: it works
    So internally, normally, no worries.

    - Ping on IPCop for google
    Code:
    ping www.google.com
    it does not work
    Code:
    ping: unknown host
    - Ping on PortInt and FixInt to google
    Code:
    ping www.google.com
    it does not work
    Code:
    ping: unknown host www.google.com
So I can not access the Internet and ExtTest since IPCop and beyond.

    Since TestExt:
    - ping www.google.com: it works
    - ping PortInt: it works
    - ping FixInt and IPCop does not work.

So I do not understand, because from the network (IPCop, PortInt and FixInt) TestExt are not visible.

I tested changing the network connections, the result is always the same: unable to access the Internet from the network. Explanation:

On PortInt and FixInt, the two distributions do not see "No network connection". So no ping possible. Since IPCop
    - ping www.google.com: it works
    - ping PortInt: it works
    - ping FixInt worm: it does not work
    - ping TestExt: it works.

    Since TextExt:
    - ping www.google.com: it works
    - ping PortInt: it works
    - ping IPCop; it works
    - ping FixInt; it does not work

And in both cases, I can not get to go on IPCop, but since the network since FixInt and PortInt. I do not know the intranet address.

    Small info:
    Distribution TestExt : Fedora 11
    Distribution FixInt : Linux Mint
Distribution PortInt : Ubuntu 9.04 LiveCD
    Distribution IPCop 1.4.9-i386

So, after the IPCop, the Internet and the output switch.
    No!

It says "Red side" on the one hand, and the other Red is connected to the box. Yes, but how? (and just make a machine side Red?)

    The logic diagram is

Internet <-> box <-> (Red) ipcop (Green) <-> switch <-> all PC

But this pattern does not say how the box is configured: in bridge mode or router? (This must be router I presume).

Moreover, for each material in a network must have 4 information:
    - Ip
    - Mask
    - Gateway
    - Dns server

Here, outside the Internet, there are 2 networks (different):
    - Red: box, ipcop (red) and turn
    - Green: ipcop (green) fixed and mobile (or pc1 and pc2)

We do not know the address.

    No!

Connection cables. I say, "cables" because the output of box, the cable goes right to an inverter and network protection para-lightning. So cable is connected to the lightning protection para-IPCop to go to a straight cable.

(and just make a machine side Red?)
I remain connected to the net. Because under the Fedora 11, boinc runs continuously. And if there is no network connection, boinc displays it to me. And it allows me to continue to do things on the net (email, download...)

    The logic diagram is

Internet <-> box <-> (Red) ipcop (Green) <-> switch <-> all PC
It is clear, but since I can not operate properly IPCop, I prefer to keep a pc connected directly on the net. But as soon as IPCop works, I put the pcs in the green zone

But this pattern does not say how the box is configured: in bridge mode or router? (This must be router I presume).
Very good question. Because I do not know. With my old box, I knew, but there I changed ISP. But I think it's in bridge, because when the decoder box is turned on, the internet starts talking.

Moreover, for each material in a network must have 4 information:
    - IPCop ip address: 192.168.1.1
    - Mask: 255.255.255.0
    - Gateway: 192.168.1.254
    - Server dns: 194.158.122.xx (xx: 10 to 15)

It is the intelligence of IPCop.

Here, outside the Internet, there are 2 networks (different):
    - Red: box, ipcop (red) and turn
    - Green: ipcop (green) fixed and mobile (or pc1 and pc2)

We do not know the address.
Done. I think it will. Everything is OK?

Re: Install IPCop but having network connection problem

    - IPCop ip address: 192.168.1.1
    - Mask: 255.255.255.0
    - Gateway: 192.168.1.254
    - Server dns: 194.158.122.xx (xx: 10 to 15)
This would mean that the box is 192.168.1.254: so it is a router!

Caution its the box that controls: the addressing of ipcop (config Red) is chosen according to the box. Behind a box, in general, we choose "static" to Red indicating the 4 parameters (avoiding to choose the IP address of the box!).

This property is consistent with the settings of the box and compared with the other machine connected to the box.

The logic is that the box is in 192.168.1.1. Its the address you have chosen!

A DNS server is an ip address (not set). With the standard box, the DNS server information is also the box!
