Slow printing on Windows 2008 print server

Sponsored Links
I recently installed a new Windows Server 2008 Standard, SP2 64 bit server (not R2) at a client, to replace a Windows 2000 server. There are multiple problems with setting a default TTS Voice in Windows Server 2008. Everything about the project as gone smoothly until I tried to set up the new server as the print server. The issue is that it takes a full minute for a test page to print, while when sending the same test page to the Windows 2000 server the test page prints immediately. Can any one tell me that why i'm having slow printing on Windows 2008 print server? Does any body knows about it? Please help me out to resolve the above issue. Thanks.

Are you running any third party firewall on your machine? All I had to do is add "System" and "Creator Owner" to the drive with the appropriate permissions and upon failover G:\ came back as a "Clustered Disk". Seems like there have been some significant changes to permissions in 2008.

Please make a clean boot to make sure the problem is not caused third party software. This really needs to be answered by nProtect, as it appears they are trying to do on the older processors what DEP does on the latest processors. They may disagree, but if DEP does what they were doing, the use of their product may become moot.

Re: Slow printing on Windows 2008 print server

I will assume you are using the Standard TCP/IP Port monitor. If not what port monitor are you using? The info in the errorlog is more useful. Please check towards the end of it. In your directory:
Quote:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Setup Bootstrap\Log\20090731_052507
Just as a test, if you setup the printer as a local printer (via a TCP/IP port) on one of the XP SP3 clients.
