VPN connection - Internet usage

Does connecting to remote desktop machine through VPN and browsing in that causes Internet Usage in my local machine.

If possible can anyone please help in knowing completely about internet usage when connecting to RDP machine through VPN

If you are connected to a local computer over local network, internet is not used, but in case of VPN, yes, internet is used, VPN is basically a local network over internet. So internet is supposed to be used. You cannot connect to a VPNed computer without internet...

When you establish a connection through a VPN, packets are by default routed to the default gateway on the remote network of your VPN connection.
