Synchronouzing is not happening on the DFS file

    Hi,

I have a list of shared files from the different file servers on the network. i grouped them by using the DFS(distributed file system) on windows 2003 server. couple of folders i used to Synchronous (replicate to remote location). now Synchronizing is not happening.

    any help much appreciated.

    kind regards,
    Steve

Re: Synchronouzing is not happening on the DFS file

The problem is that DFS-R is only supported in Windows Server 2003 R2 and later. For DFS-R, you can create a report for the replication --> MMC Snap- in for DFS-R and then it's an action you can run on the replication-set. SBS 2003 does not support DFS-R not even SBS 2003 R2, which was, confusingly, not based on Win2k3 R2. The best way to synchronize the is to use Offline Files.

Have a look at the network connections and make sure everything is up. Check router config if it has no disabled ports, that migh cause the problems... Do post back...

I don't think that will work, instead overwrite the file which has changed...

Re: Synchronouzing is not happening on the DFS file

If you have multiple link targets and want to keep files synchronized among the targets, you'll need to configure Dfs-based replication. DFS Replication works on a single threaded, "pull" process. As a result, synchronization tasks can easily "queue" up and create a backlog whereby changes made from one location are not replicated to the other side in an immediate manner.
