wireless technology right choice for the data centre?

    Hello,
I have some query? I need to monitor power and the environment within our data centre. will wireless technology can be able to function for this application with all of the metal racks, chassis, cabinets, etc? Also, do you believe the additional costs will warrant using wireless for this application?

Wireless technology is an excellent way to monitor environmental characteristics of your data center. The wireless LAN chipsets today that are embedded in access points, NICs, and Wi-Fi wireless PDAs have been extensively tested by the suppliers of silicon in multipath environments and should be able to function in this environment. Justify the cost of installation depends on the cost of ownership of the WLAN equipment and the cost of a potentially negative incident triggered the environment could be avoided by installing a WLAN infrastructure. Is it worth it? In general, wireless is very profitable and wireless cameras are very profitable ($ 60). There are things you should consider, such as power. In addition, if there is a problem in the data center, it would be useful for technicians to have instant access to information via wireless.

The operators of data centers to meet this energy blind spot to the role technology.vital wireless monitoring and wireless energy management systems, not only as a means of kick-off energy saving IT strategies, but also to maintain these efficiencies in the long term. One of the main reasons to adopt a system of wireless monitoring is to validate the effectiveness of other green investments such as adding coolant or the free functioning of the central few degrees warmer. Otherwise, Austin said, "you can implement these strategies, but have no way to tell if it is to make other good.Wireless sensor networks have been developing for years, and became relatively cheap and easy to install. This means that the wireless product data center are not very capital intensive and are a proven technology, compared to some of the more experimental technologies in other sectors of technology own, such as biofuels and battery electric vehicles. Anything that makes the technology a good fit for a small start-ups.

Wireless data center monitoring startup Synapsense to adapt its configuration hot-aisle/cold-aisle, implement strategies Cold Aisle Containment and raise the temperature of inlet air to the servers. The Web giant reduced data center cooling energy use 21%, and reduced its PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness) ratio from 1.52 to 1.44. The wireless monitors to measure the temperature of the inlet and discharge of the racks, the temperature at the inlet and discharging Coniditoner Computer Room Air (CRAC) units, humidity in the CRAC units, and under Air-Ground Center pressure.data operators increasingly to networks of wireless sensors to reduce energy consumption. This is an area of low-hanging fruit of a power-hungry industry that - with data center power use set to soar by 76 per cent in 2010 - becoming one of the fastest growing emitters carbon on the planet.
