If you are getting error “PS3 cannot obtain Ip address”, you can use DMZ to get around the problem. It is a physical or logical subnetwork that contains and exposes an organization's external services to a larger, untrusted network, usually the Internet. When you setup DMZ it assigns an IP address that your Playstation will always use.
Dont manually put in anything.Have you tried starting from scratch and setting up a new connection on the ps3? Try changing MTU on both your router and your PS3 to either 1492 or 1500. That can sometimes be a factor.
The PS3 determines its own IP address from the ones that are available from your ISP. If you PS3 can't obtain an IP address, make sure UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) is enabled in your router settings. If you're running through a router, check to see if you have MAC filtering on. You might need to enter the MAC address for the PS3 into your router.
