Remote Installation Services is supported by Windows 2000. In windows 2003 there are only two services which provides Remote Installation Services: DHCP and Remote Installation Service.
You can use Remote Installation Services (RIS) in Microsoft Windows 2000 Server to install Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional, Microsoft Windows 2000 Server, or Microsoft Windows XP Professional on a remote client computer.

RIS delivers only clean installs of XP Professional, you cannot use this technology to upgrade clients such as Windows 98 to XP. A Pentium or Pentium II 200 megahertz (MHz) CPU is recommended. At a minimum, a Pentium 166 MHz CPU is required. Microsoft Windows 2000 / 2003 Servers' Remote Installation Services (RIS) is a well known tool that allows easy deployment of Windows 2000 Professional or Windows XP over a network.
