Re: Windows Live OneCare stopped working

The most common reason for getting Windows Live OneCare is not working error message is that you've recently upgraded OneCare or you've recently restarted your computer and there is a problem. Anyways, make sure that OneCare is running and that it's set to automatically start.

To do so, here is the step by step:-
  • Click Start, click in the Start Search box, type services.msc, and then press ENTER.
  • In the list of services, right-click each of the following services, and then click Properties:
    • Windows Live OneCare
    • Windows Live OneCare Health Monitor
    • OneCare Antispyware and Antivirus
    • OneCare Firewall
  • Next to Startup type, make sure that Automatic is selected.
  • Next to Service status, make sure that Started appears. If Started doesn't appear, click Start.
  • Click OK, and then close the Services window.

Re: Windows Live OneCare stopped working

I guess the cause for this error might be the stopped Terminal Services or it is not set to start automatically. To check this out :-

In Vista, click Start, click in the Start Search box, type services.msc, and then press ENTER. In the list of services, right-click Terminal Services, and then click Properties. Next to Startup type, make sure that Automatic is selected. Next to Service status, make sure that Started appears. If Started doesn't appear, click Start. Click OK, and then close the Services window. Restart your computer.

Re: Windows Live OneCare stopped working

I think you need to install the OneCare database update tool to reset the settings and permissions for OneCare. Hope it works for you. If still the problem exists, i'll suggest you to uninstall, and then reinstall OneCare again. To uninstall OneCare from your system click Start, click in the Start Search box, type appwiz.cpl, and then press Enter. From the list of installed programs, uninstall Windows Live OneCare. Restart your computer.
