Error "The OneCare firewall is off. This PC may be at risk from Internet threats"

I have installed Windows Live OneCare yesterday on my Windows Vista operating system. It was working fine but today when i turned on my PC it gives me message saying, "The OneCare firewall is off. This PC may be at risk from Internet threats."

To be frank, i don't know what is it because my Firewall was turned on before installing it. And now it doesn't start. Please help me out of this.

Thanks in advance.

If the firewall service doesn't start, you may be prompted to enable the firewall, or you may find that you can't access or modify any firewall settings. To troubleshoot this issue Make sure that Windows Live OneCare firewall is running and that it's set to automatically start. To do so, follow these steps:-
  1. Click Start, click in the Start Search box, type services.msc, and then press ENTER.
  2. In the list of services, right-click OneCare Firewall, and then click Properties.
  3. Next to Startup type, make sure that Automatic is selected.
  4. Next to Service status, make sure that Started appears. If Started doesn't appear, click Start.
  5. Click OK, and then close the Services window.
  6. If the firewall won't start, go to the next step.

You need Run the firewall clean-up tool once you are finished with the above procedure. You can download the Firewall clean-up tool from here. When you run the firewall clean-up tool, OneCare automatically resets the firewall to the default settings.

Now you need to reinstall OneCare. To do so:-
  • Click Start, click in the Start Search box, type appwiz.cpl, and then press ENTER.
  • From the list of installed programs, uninstall Windows Live OneCare.
  • Restart your computer.

To install OneCare from the OneCare website:-
  • Visit the Windows Live OneCare installation website, and then click Download your 90-day free trial today.
  • Click Install the 90-day free trial of Windows Live OneCare, and then follow the on-screen instructions.

To install OneCare from the OneCare CD:-
  • Insert the OneCare installation CD in your disc drive, and then follow the on-screen instructions. If OneCare Setup doesn't automatically start, in Windows Explorer, browse to the drive where the installation disc is located, and then double-click the icon for that drive.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions.
