Automatically reconnect to Windows Vista via remote desktop

I am configuring my HTPC. I use the opportunity to connect to remote office that is offered by my Windows Vista until the problem but not on the PC server that I logged off automatically when using the remote desktop. Is it possible to make it automatically reconnect after I gets disconnected when the session took control of the remote desktop?

It is certainly possible with VNC or similar, but with Remote Desktop I do not think. VNC can display according to the resolution (to check it in the Viewer) and confess to be happy with the Enterprise version (purchased license) ...

Re: Automatically reconnect to Windows Vista via remote desktop

VNC and another does not log out the server so the question would not break. I tested several VNC as RealVNC Free Edition, its not Vista compatible. I find UltraVNC and TightVNC terribly slow. And the practical side can be VNC keeps the screen resolution server to say 1900x1080 (FullHD) in my case, while the Remote Desktop screen resizes a client 1280x800 as if it was directly on the machine!

Re: Automatically reconnect to Windows Vista via remote desktop

I had never tried, but it would work, perhaps by launching rdp in admin mode, to use another interactive session. For that you go into the "Run" window and you do mstsc /admin, and after that as usual.

Otherwise try this: when leaving your Remote Desktop session, instead of start -> disconnect as usual, try opening a command line and execute it:
tscon.exe 1 /dest: console

If it does not work also try replacing the 1 by 0.
