    Re: What is router

Router is device that forwards data packets along networks. Or other words you can say router is a device in computer networking that forwards data packets to their destinations, based on their addresses. The work a router does it called routing, which is somewhat like switching, but a router is different from a switch. When data packets are transmitted over a network , they move through many routers or you can say they pass through many networks in their journey from the source machine to the destination machine.Cisco Small Business 100 Series roter is best for small firm. A Router is a layer 3 network device that moves data between different network. Router determine the best path for the packet to travel in network. . A router is connected to minimum two networks mostly WAN(wide Area Network) or LAN(Local Area Network) and its ISP's( Internet service provider) network. It also allow all users in a network to share a single connection to the Internet or a WAN.It is used to improve network performance. It segmenting the network and creating separate collision & broadcast domains. For small network Cisco Small Business 106 ADSL Over ISDN Router is best suited
