dns sbs08 doesn't find every dn

Hi,

I'm having some trouble with the dns on sbs08 in my network. In the morning, everything works perfectly fine, but during the day, the dns is starting to fail to resolve some domain names of major websites like google on the clients. When I restart the dns-service on the server, the problem is solved but the problem starts all over again and after some hours, the sites are once again not reachable.

The log doens't give any problems.

Every site seems to be reachable from the server.

i had such problem where i can able to solve this problem after calling to my ISP so you just better to call your ISP

First thing to try is telnet to the local server ip address from inside your network on port 25 does that work? You can sometime get this problem where there is another DHCP server on the network (router, firewall, Wireless access point or modem).

I don't think there is another dhcp in the network.
I've set up the network completly on my own and there is only an IPcop firewall with a dhcp server on it.
The dns is on the server.

Is it possible that the dns on the server is not able to resolve every external dn?
