| How to ping my nic
I'm using a cable internet on my pc. The nic works great on my system, but when i try to ping it, i'm unable to do it. I had checked the network neighborhood properties and it shows that it has the normal display on it. I would like to know that how can i ping my nic? What i need to do in order to ping my nic? Does anyone have any suggestions on the above issue? Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. |

Why you need to ping your nic Look Go to Control Panel Go to Network Connections On Locol Area Connection Right Hand it /// Go to Status /// Go to Support // Default Gateway /// is the NIC for the cable box // if need to see its webpage Go to http://192.168.0.1 // if that your Gateway Ip. if not put the IP# of your Gateway. User Name: admin Password: Keep it the Same just GO OK. |

The loopback interface in part of (internal to) the kernel and so you don't need a NIC card to ping the loopback interface. Probably the port that you might be using on your system must be blocked by the firewall. |

Your NIC cards are not loopback interfaces, their are, for example, ethernet cards. These are different interfaces than loopback interfaces. If you don't have a static IP, you need to know the current IP assigned by the ISP.From the DOS command type: ipconfig. |

Your ISPs server should be passing you the information, but it isn’t for some reason. Try switching out the Ethernet cable(most common issue) with a known good cable. You need to find out what the server address is and enter the details into your network settings manually. |
