How to setup Canon GP160 on a home network

I have a Canon GP160 printer and I want to install it on a home network. As I am new to this can anyone explain me what are the procedures needed to setup a printer on a network. Please give me the details in as simple word as possible cause I am not a very techie person. Thanks in advance for any reply.

Download CANON NetSpot Device Installer for Windows from here. NetSpot Device Installer is a utility software that enables the configuration of network protocol settings on Canon devices connected to a network. NetSpot Device Installer can be used directly from source without installing it on a computer.

It is very easy to add a printer to a network, there are many online tutorials that will guide you about the same, for instance see some similar threads here: http://forums.techarena.in/vista-print-fax/740691.htm

Re: How to setup Canon GP160 on a home network

If you wish to share a printer to different operating system then you have to install the drivers for your printer on the machine that you want to use to connect to the shared printer. If your printer is attached to your windows xp machine then it can only be shared "natively" with other 32 bit operating systems. When you add the printer on the Vista 64 bit laptop, you need to supply the driver for the printer that is 64 bit. Check with Canon for the availability of a driver since there is no driver for that printer on your Vista 64 bit machine natively. You can't share a printer using OneCare's printer sharing feature between a 32 bit and 64 bit system, so you must do this manually with Windows File and Printer Sharing.
