DSL connection auto connect on startup

I use Windows XP Pro. I have just got the new DSL connection form local ISP. After every startup to use the connection i have to double click on the ISP icon to get connected. Is there any way to make it auto-connect on every startup? Any help would be appreciated.

Do you have router? then you are very much lucky because all routers have the feature of auto connecting on every powerup. And if the connection gets lost they re-initiate connections immediately after that. But if you don't have router then in the software application provided by your ISP look for the option of auto dial on every startup, check that option and apply it.

You need to dail-in to a DSL connection since you have to authenticate each time you connect, usually using PPPoE , you may use Rasdial utility, built-in with Windows XP.

Usage: Open a Command Prompt window and type:

    Rasdial <connectoid> "username" "password"

This would initiate a dial-up/PPPoE connection to your ISP. You can create a batch file with the above parameters and place it in your Startup folder, so that XP dials to your ISP automatically at every startup. Have you tried interfacing with the DSL modem via 192.168.1.1 or something else address assigned to your router?

DSL Requires Username and Password to connect. THink about buying a cheap router router and configure it for your connection so its always on. You can use ADSL Autoconnect program for autoconnect.
