If your printer has a built-in ethernet adapter, adding your printer to your network is a snap. Connect your printer to the network. If your printer is not wired, you’ll have to connect it directly to your wireless router.Install printer drivers on all computers. And now follow these steps:-

    • Click Start and then click Control Panel.

    • Click Printers and Other Hardware, and then click Printers and Faxes.

    • In the Printers and Faxes folder click on Share This Printer

    • Now click on the Sharing tab.

    • Now click Share Name, and then OK.

    • Now go to Control Panel, and click Printers and Other Hardware.

    • Go to Add a Printer.

    • Now click on Printer Connection and then browse the network for the printer.

    Thats it !!

Hey thanks a lot for sharing this useful info. I have done this before on my Windows XP system. I have connected and HP printer with the systems that worked fine for few days and than stopped working. Computers can find the printers but can not print the documents. Could you help me out in this case ?

It sounds more likely your have disrupted file and printer sharing. Also the share name can be set different than the printer device name. If its not working yet, than remove the router temporary, plug all the computers and the printer into the workgroup switch and manually set the IP address for each computers.
