169.254.xx cant connect to internet?

I have internet connection through linksys router but i can't able to get online. I have tried to solve problem, i found that my router shows ip address 169.254.xx.xxx. Is there any problem with 169.254.xx.xxx ip address. Why i cannot connect with 169.254.x.x.?

169.254.xxx.xxx is a class of ip addresses set automatically to a device, when this can't connect the dhcp server. is a reserved network. The IP defaults to 169.254.105.7, which of course is out of the range for the Default Gateway (i.e., > 192.168.0.1). If your router is set as dhcp server, you must verify the link connection with pda. else you must configure the correct ip address manually to the pda.

The default gateway modem should start with 192.168.X.X for certain modem. The 169.254.xx.xx ip address is only work if two computer are connected to each other.if you get modem ip start with 169.254.x.x, that's mean there's no connection between your pc and modem...169.254.xx.xx ip address are assigned, so that the upstream networking equipment knows where to send or how to route packets.

Goto Start --> Run --> type EVENTVWR and press OK --> Now, look under the System log, it display error or any type of warnings or try to reset the router to factory defaults by holding the reset button down for 15 seconds with power on.
