Re: Range of Wired and wireless Router

Wired Ethernet hubs support basic file sharing and connection sharing for home networks with or without Internet service. Wireless routers are actually wired routers with wireless access points built in so you can have wired and/or wireless at the same time. Wired routers are easier to secure than wireless ones.An IP router such as a DSL or cable modem broadband router joins the home's local area network (LAN) to the wide-area network (WAN) of the Internet.

With wrt54g router you will get range of 30-35ft (definitely no more than 45-50ft). If use router with 802.11b not giving performance, then you can replace your router and network adapters with 802.11g-compatible equipment.

Re: Range of Wired and wireless Router

Belkin N1 Vision Wireless Router with N1 Vision gives high performance transfer-speed, completing a 100MB file transfer at a distance of 50 feet in just 17.5 seconds. Buffalo Wireless-N Nfiniti Dual Band Router only provided half the throughput (144.5Mbps) at the same location. At a distance of 25 feet from the router, our throughput wavered between 243Mbps and 270Mbps; at 50 feet, it held steady at 108Mbps with 98 percent signal strength to the router's access point.
