Configuration is done post installation from a web browser, and the interface is very simple and easy to understand. To disable the Firewall on your Linksys WRT54G Router just go through this few simple steps:-

    • Open any of your web browser and type 192.160.1.1 in the address bar and press Enter.

    • This will open your Router login page. Login there with your UserID and password.

    • Now go the security Tab.The security tab has only two tabs, firewall and VPN.

    • Here you need to check disable the Firewall Protection to turn it off.

    • Once done, click on Save and Exit the page.

    Thats it..

The firewall tab allows you to enable or disable the router firewall functions, and allows you to choose what you want to block or filter. The VPN tab allows you to determine which VPN security technologies you can pass through from IPSec, PPTP and L2TP. If you are using Windows XP SP2, than just go to your local area connection properties, go to advance tab, click on settings and turn off the Firewall.

The latest version 5 has less Flash and System RAM and uses a buggy non-Linux based firmware. The security tab allows disabling of security (not recommended), WEP, or WPA. You can choose your WEP encryption (64 or 128 bits) and generate WEP keys. For more info on Linksys WRT54G Router refer to this link.
