Server 2008 stops accepting incoming connections

    HI,
I am using 2 different servers with different hardware. The server is not responding the incoming connections. It seems to me as the server is down. I can browse and can see other computers without any problem. But it is not responding to the incoming connections. What is the problem? Anyone?

    Thank you in advance.

Try running network monitor or wireshark on the server to see if the request is getting through.Try disabling the firewalls or any other programs and softwares related to the servers. The Routing and Remote Access service is configured to permit incoming connections. You can check the Microsoft's KB article on Name resolution and connectivity issues on a Routing and Remote Access Server that also runs DNS or WINS.

Re: Server 2008 stops accepting incoming connections

The server creates a Point-to-Point Protocol when a remote computer connects to the Routing and Remote Access server. Then it registers the IP address of this PPP adapter in the DNS or the WINS database. It can give errors when you try to connect to the server because the DNS or WINS servers returns the IP address of the PPP adapter to computers that query DNS or WINS for the server's IP address. The computers then try to connect to the IP address of the PPP adapter.
