    Active Directory in Linux

Is there a small Active Directory in Linux? Does Samba supports it?

In fact I just want to replace my Windows Server 2000 (which is roughly only to rights management) with a package (even if I do) rather compact in memory (you will understand why) for my Linksys WRT54GS (in dd - wrt). Thank you

Apparently you can do that with Samba + LDAP: http://www.unav.es/cti/ldap-smb-howto.html
it works even better with NFSv4 and LDAP and will all come packaged for that ...

    Re: Active Directory in Linux

There are a number of solutions you can use to link Linux systems with Active Directory, all with their own advantages and disadvantages.

    Samba winbind
winbind is a service that comes with the Open Source Samba client/server Windows networking/CIFS compatibility suite, which comes for free and is pre-installed with just about every Linux distribution. As of version 3.0.x of Samba, winbind not only supports Windows NT 3.x/4.x-style domains, but it also supports authentication to Active Directory.

    More info here.

I managed to migrate my domain AD in simple NT4 domain (the client had to join the domain but no ID does not change ACL problems or losses profiles) under samba3 @ debian on WL500G Deluxe.
