How to join Windows XP Home Edition to a domain

I am unable to connect a computer running Windows XP Home Edition to a domain on a local network. Can anyone explain me how to join Windows XP Home Edition to a domain? Everytime I try to do I get an error message saying domain controller for the domain can not be contacted.

Windows XP Home Edition is intentionally made for home users and so it will not support such features. You have to install Windows XP Professional Edition in order to use it for business purposes. The simple reason behind this is that most of time HOME users would not have domains.

There is a fix which can solve the problem and allow WinXP Home Edition to join a domain. X-Setup Pro can overcome this by simply performing an auto-login for you to the domain. You just need to activate the following plug-in and enter the username, password and DOMAIN Name that your admin has given to you:

You have to upgrade your Windows. You can go for any other Windows XP edition or to Windows Vista Ultimate in order to join a domain. To join a domain, here are the steps:

1. Click Start, right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
2. Click the Computer Name tab, and then click Change.
3. Type the new computer name in the Computer name dialog box.
4. Type the new domain in the Domain dialog box.
5. Click More to change the primary Domain Name System (DNS) suffix.
   

   Note: Windows XP Home Edition is not designed to join domains. Windows XP Home Edition is only designed to join workgroups. Therefore, use Windows XP Professional to join domains.

6. Click OK three times, and then restart the computer.
