How to uninstall symantec security alert

Hello,

I have Win XP Pro and I have uninstalled Symantec Antivirus as I want to installed Norton 2007, but now, I get an annoying pop-up "Symantec Security Alert" window warning me that those two programs are disabled. I already checked my HD for any left file but i still got the problem.

Try the official Norton Symantec Removal Tool. Symantec Security Response has developed tools to automatically conduct what would often amount to extensive and tedious manual removal tasks. If your system has become infected, the tools listed below should aid you in repairing the damage.

1. Download the Norton Removal Tool. Save the file to the Windows desktop.

2. On the Windows desktop, double-click the Norton Removal Tool icon.

3. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Your computer may be restarted more than once, and you may be asked to repeat some steps after the computer restarts.

Try to removing Symantec Antivirus manually from your add/remove programs, then remove it. But if have been succesful with uninstalling (do make the reboots when you are asked for them), load the tool "Norton removal tool" from the internet (find it with Google) and let then run it.

To stop the symantec services :

1. On the Windows taskbar, click Start > Run.

2. In the Open box, type the following text:

services.msc

3. Click OK.

For each of the following services, right-click the name of the service, and then click Stop:

• Intel PDS
• Intel Alert Handler
• Intel Alert Originator
• Intel File Transfer
• Symantec AntiVirus
• Symantec AntiVirus Definition Watcher
