Free anti virus scan

friends in my compaq presario notebook running on vista home premium i installed a macfee anti virus program..
But am using only the trial version and it will expire with in days.now i have a desktop also which also operating on windows vista,I would like to know how i can get anti virus additionally

any help??

if you want an anti virus program with out spending bucks right?
AVG free edition will do so..but it won't be a comfortable in case of strong trojan so and so..but if you update it often..then things will be ok..but don't enter suspicious websites while browsing...

Avast is cool? what you guys thinks..and it is available for free
i think it will work brilliantly than AVG, but now AVG is a hero thanks to Brontok,but am perplexing how this related each other......

now days people are more fond of Avira
I think it is because more user friendly application which have modified the virus protection so that we are not supposed to ask how to proceed each time malware is discovered. Instead, a complete search can take place and at the end the user will find all malware in a clearly arranged list, which can be wiped from the hard drive with the click of a mouse...
so why can't you opt a Avira
