    AVG detects flashutil10a.exe as Trojan

AVG is detecting flashutil10a.exe as a Trojan. Is it true? Is it really a Trojan or just a false positive from AVG? I am thinking it belongs to Adobe because according to the name that is a flash utility but not sure if it is. Can you help me to find out what is flashutil10a.exe, a Trojan or not?

Yes, you are right. FlashUtil10a.exe is a Flash Utility. It checks whether your computer need any updates to play flash files and if some program is installed then it checks if it is properly installed. FlashUtil10a.exe includes functionality required by Windows Vista and by the auto-update notification process. It is very essential for third-party software or hardware and should not be disabled any how.

The FlashUtil10a.exe is a Flash Utility file. The FlashUtil10a.exe file gets installed alongwith Flash Player 10. It is located under C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash folder. You should not disable it because Windows Vista requires this file to work normally. It, when invoked, checks for any updates and also if Flash Player 10 was installed properly.

Re: AVG detects flashutil10a.exe as Trojan

Flashutil10a.exe is not a virus but a Adobe Flash Player Helper file. As far I know, it is completely safe and shouldn't be disabled. However, if you wish, you can download and run the Adobe Flash Player uninstaller to remove it.

Regarding AVG antivirus, I would say it is better to Kaspersky internet security. It is more reliable and efficient.
