| wudfhost.exe is using 100% CPU
Hi, I have a lenovo laptop with 2 gig of memory and C2D processor. Recently affected by virus I had scanned it completely and remove all the suspicious. Then I updated my windows. My laptop was working quiet slow so checked out processes in the Task Manager. A named wudfhost.exe is using 100% of cpu. Never seen this file before. What is it. Can I stop it. If it is not required how can I delete it. Suggestion really appreciated. |

The file is an part of Windows Vista operating system. It is an critical system file which must not be deleted or stopped. If try to do so it will make you system unstable. It is related to an driver class run in user mode mainly the USB. The location of file C:\Windows\System32. It is using the large amount of processor resource due some reason. After a some time it will free up your processor. It is recommended that it must not be deleted. Otherwise some services in your system will not function properly. |

wudfhost.exe is not an harm to your system. It comes with the OS which is termed as windows driver foundation. It is running in the background to initiate the windows process. There are some virus which have similar names but they are easily detectable by the antivirus tool. Normally the virus affects windows registry, it is better to run a windows registry repair tool. There are some malicious software which have similar name of WUDFHost.exe. It is an windows file which runs the Windows Driver Foundation - User-mode Driver Framework Host Process. It is an system file and not recommend to disable or delete. But if this file is continuously consuming a high amount of system resource then it can be a threat. I will suggest you to restart your system in safe mode and run a full system scan. As I said that if this file is causing trouble and affecting the performance of your machine then remove it. You can find the location by searching it in windows. Otherwise leave the file as it is. |
