Detect and Recover Network Failure in Windows Exchange Server 2003

I have installed Windows Exchange Server 2003 service pack 2 in my XP system. I am really facing a strange issue while running exchange on windows 2003. My server runs without any problem when I disable the exchange services. But when I enable the exchange server and allow the users to access their mailboxes, the server completely stops responding to network requests. How can I solve this network failure in my exchange server 2003 ?

Check the following two things that is known to cause the network failure in exchange server 2003 :

• Remote Registry service not running on the node
• Binding order of the private/heartbeat NIC is wrong. Doublecheck that the NIC is setup like in: http://support.microsoft.com/?id=258750

Check your network connections. Are the network settings set to normal ?

Try to Reboot your computer and make sure the standard network settings are not altered after rebooting...

How much RAM is there in your computer ? It seems there are large-mailboxes in which the users have stored lots of items in a single folder. As a result, when the user clicks on that folder the server might require too much resources to render the view. You might set and store separate messages into multiple folders, say by date or subject, so that there aren't more than, say, 10,000 items in any one single folder.
