open port to outside which is used for proxy?

Hello, I hope someone can shine a light on the next question.

Users approach the internet through our proxy on port 8080. Other ports are closed. Behind proxy is a firewall.
Now, for a certain website port8080 needs to be opened to start certain things (www.example.com:8080) . So, we opened port on proxy and firewall Withouth proxy, this site can be approached and does his thing. With proxy enabled, it does not.
Question: is it anyway possible to open the port which is used by the proxy itself? As 8080 is the central proxy port number.

Thxs for taking the patience to read!

You do not need to open this Port 8080 at all unless you want external users to have access to the proxy server. The proxy itself goes out to collect pages on port 80, so that would need to be open outbound.
