Tcp/ip netbios ports keeps on changing in Windows Vista

My pc is connected with a Hp printer and i'm running Windows Vista as my operating system. The problem is that my tcp/ip netbios keeps on changing its ports and due to which i had to reset my settings every time on my system. This really irritates me lot. It keeps on changing the tcp/ip netbios ports settings automatically on my pc. Can any body tell me that why i'm having such problem on my pc? What can i do to have a stable settings configuration on my system? Does any body have any idea about this issue? Kindly help me out to get rid of the above issue.

I don't think you need to "configure" any settings in NETBIOS. Any way if you want to do it you can follow the below steps. Click on Start menu and then select Run and then type CMD in order to open the command prompt on your pc. Then type the following command nbtstat -n.

You can try out using NBTscan-Ipanto on your pc. As it is a command-line tool that scans for NETBIOS devices on a local or remote TCP/IP network. NBTscan-Ipanto is more powerful than others NETBIOS scanners as it is designed not to flood ARP tables and firewalls. It gives very useful reports, including the username connected on each detected device. NBTscan-Ipanto is an open source freeware.

Check out whether you have selected the "Change scope" option while adding new port on your system. Also check out whether you have selected the TCP or UDP option, depending on the protocol.
