Cannot connect to internet after installing avast

Hi,
i just reformatted my computer and installed avast antivirus. After that i am not able to connect to internet. I have tried all browsers like IE, firefox, opera. But the weird thing is that i can login to MSN messenger. Anyone have a fix?

Try reinstalling the program. Disable avast and try to connect the internet. If you can connect after disabling, then there must be some settings in avast to allow the connection. Also try to connect internet in safe mode.

You have another option for avast. Download and install AVG free. When you install AVG don't forget to select custom install and uncheck the email scanning module. Disable anti-virus application and any third-party firewall AND enable the Windows Firewall.

Try this:

• Click start
• Control panel
• Double click on network connections
• Right click on the icon for Local Area Connection
• Select Properties
• Click on Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
• Then click on properties
• Select Obtain IP address automatically and Obtain DNS address automatically
• Click apply and OK
