    Re: Port Scan Blocked?

Port numbers are not so controlled, but over the decades certain ports have become standard for certain services. The port numbers are unique only within a computer system. Port scans are more common than most people think. Not all of them are malicious. Not every Internet security package does a good job of accurately identifying a port scan.

if you want to block the port scan you can do this :
    # Drop port scanning packets
    -A portscan -m limit --limit 1/sec --limit-burst 2 -j RETURN
    -A portscan -m limit -j LOG --log-prefix "iptables scanned: "
    -A portscan -j DROP
