The firewall might be blocking. Go to start then control panel then windows firewall then to exceptions then to check file and printer sharing, look for checkmark appear on the printer host. Then Restart the printer host & all client machines. Sometimes if a computer is not plugged, windows file and printer sharing gets messed up.

    Hope this will Help you...!

I will firstly ask you to check for the compatibility mode for windows 7 set up to...??

If not set yet set it to Vista Mode. Also check for the compatible driver update for printer to windows 7.

Reply if still the problem persist in it....!

If network is set to Private, if network discovery & file & printer sharing is ON, the other PCs should look perfectly. Have a look at the full network map, you should be able to double click on computers on that map to be prompted for a user/password then you will have access to the shared documents on PC.

Again you don't need to use the full network map.

    • If computers have different workgroup names, that could be a problem with browsing.

    • If you are being prompted for a password, then likely you don't have access.

    • If you are trying to connect to other people's computers and don't have access, that is something you should be taking up with them.

Being on a campus, are you supposed to always have access to just anyone's computers. If it were mine, I would want restrictions as well.
