Internet connection in suse 10.3

I am a beginner in Linux, I just installed OpenSUSE distribution on my laptop and so far all is going well but I have a problem I can not access the net I have a connection via telecom modem's new trio is a modem 2. installation of a SUSE he did not see the modem's new so I configure my DSL connection via Ethernet cable but without success. YAST should normally take the configuration!! unless an application under linux that must start before opening the browser, as I know under windows (CONNECTION), which allows me to open the connection and close it. thank you for giving me your advice to solve this problem

You should put your dns provider in YAST (I know exactly where). Is what you can do .
ping-c 4 217.12.3.11 and a ping :ping-c 4 www.yahoo.com

I will try your method and answer tonight just a question for 217.12.3.11 is something that is fixed or an IP that changes from one user to another where I have to search under windows before to go under linux

IP 217.12.3.11 IP is resolved by the DNS for the domain http://www.yahoo.com . To determine if your system allows you to switch the IP domain and vice versa.
