    How to take backup in IPCOP

    After installing the first IPCOP without problems, I wanted to save its configurations. I am therefore going into the menu 'System' menu and the 'backup' and then I 'create backup' and I was able to retrieve the file .dat.

    I then installed a second IPCOP and I wanted to import the backup that I made from the first. But each time this error message appears:

    Error decrypting archive
    I tried with the floppy drive but the files have never wanted to be saved on the floppy. I run the backup and when I check the contents it is nothing.

    Re: How to take backup in IPCOP

    So in the 'system', then 'backup', click on 'create a backup'. It then generates a .dat should be retained for later.

    Then, retrieve the 'encryption key backups' by entering the password for the backup and then we get a file called backup.key which must also be retained.

    After installing the new IPCOP on which we want to import our configurations, we use the WinSCP software (do not forget to enable ssh access to the web interface!). And it is in the var/ipcop/backup and we replace the existing file backup.key by one we just generated.

    Then, return to the web interface and importing the file .dat we created already. Simply restart before the import is taken into account.

    As against it must reinstall all the plugins that were added in IPCOP at first but once they are installed configurations it is automatic!

    You can also use software such as Acronis True Image, or with a live cd to backup on another hard drive that remain from the side. (not connected)

    I also tried with the usb stick, I put the file .dat file and backup.key. I removed the date in the filename .dat and I let the rest default.

    IPCOP to launch, when I asked if I have a backup, I met "usb" I return the host name, I enter the password for the backup and I met the usb stick.

    But every time it makes me: "ERROR: there is no backup on the usb support."

    I do not know why it did that to me.

    Re: How to take backup in IPCOP

    The file key is looking for the following
    sprintf (commandstring, MOUNT_BACKUP "/ backup.s.key%", hostname);

    So this means that the host name should be included in the file name.
