Re: unable to delete Virus Infected file

A common simple solution to this type of problem is to boot up in a 'safe' mode, or in command line mode, where the virus is unlikely to be able to launch itself. If you can boot up into one of these modes, leaving the virus dormant, you may find that the file in question is no longer in use, and that you are then able to delete it.

This does not work with every virus, but it does work with most. Do verify that the file that you are deleting really is okay to delete; a lot of virus hoaxes are perpetrated, in which the person that tells you the virus symptoms and corrective measures, is actually merely trying to trick you into deleting a file that is needed by Windows.

Please check whether this suits for your answer.
  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click System, and then click the Performance tab.
  3. Click File System.
  4. Adjust the System Restore disk space use slider to the approximate lower amount, and then click Apply.
Note that you can use the System Restore disk space use slider to select the minimum amount of space to allocate for the data store, the maximum amount, or a size in between.

Re: unable to delete Virus Infected file

If you are not able to delete the file, make sure the following things:
  1. Ensure that the file/folder is not in use
  2. Run your system on Safe Mode
  3. Download or update your Antivirus program
  4. Use Notepad
    • You can try to use Notepad to open the file that you want to remove to bypass Windows Explorer and its indexing.
    • Open Notepad and go to the ?File? and ?Open? options
    • Ensure that the ?File Type? option is set to ?All files? and not only ?Text documents?.
    • Once you have located the file that you want to delete, DO NOT double-click on it. Instead, use the right-click feature and choose ?Delete? from the list.
    • Don?t forget to empty your Recycle Bin after this process.
  5. Deactivate the Indexing service
    • Go to your Start button and choose ?Control panel?
    • Select the ?Administrative Tools? option and then ?Services? tab.
    • When you find the ?Indexing? option in the lower section of the window, select the ?Stop? button.
    • Without closing the window, try to delete the file again.
    • When done, you can set your configuration to its initial settings or choose to disable the indexing option.
  6. Use MoveOnBoot
