Norton IS 2009 Vs Kaspersky 2009

hi,
Which of this two antivirus programs are better?Norton 2009 is perfect in security but still a burden on the system.I want the internet security because i am always online,Kaspersky has been recommeded by a few freinds and my prevouis webhost. So which one do you all think is better?

The bad thing about Norton is the Update Size. Ppl still use dial-ups and I dont think its a good idea for a dial-up person to imagine about downloading 45 -60 MB

Also, I've seen viruses specifically written to break down Norton and McAfee antivirus. If they bypass the scan, they can render your system useless.

I personally would stay away from Norton. I've had nothing but problems with Norton and have had great success with other products such as Kaspersky, avast, and others.The NIS 2009 product page at Symantec's website has a video that shows how its home network security mapping works.Installation is also very fast.Add in NIS 2009 auto updates every few minutes, never a longer than 9 minutes, small 100-200K when it does.

May be kaspersky had detected any threat in ur system that norton didn't but my friend it may be the case of false positive,well i have also seen my self there are some threats which are not detected by kaspersky and they got detected by Norton.There are several reasons behind detection and not getting detected, some threats are detected by some antivirus and some are detected by some..but major threats or harmful threats are detected by every antivirus, it may also depend on if threat is new..but my frnd i have seen my self norton detects threats which kaspersky don't...you should check that file on virus total and share the result with us..and submitt to symantec also...

Certainly Norton Antivirus 2009. I'm using it. It only consumes 8MB of Ram in idle & around 10MB during scan though the scanning is a little bit slow.
It takes around 1 hour and 30 mins to scan around 27GB of data on my windows vista ultimate install partition.

As a former long time user of Norton I must say there is no comparison. Kaspersky is rated the best AV program by many computer magazine. I use ESET NOD 32 which was number 1 and is now number 2.
