    Hi..!
Thanks for taking time to reply to my question. Well my System Configuration is :

    Intel Core 2 Duo 2.66Ghz
    Gigabyte GA-G31M-S2L Motherboard
    2GB DDR2 RAM
    160GB SATA HDD
Sparkle GeForce 8400GS PCIe Graphics Card

I use 100mbps D-Link switch with Cat 5e cables... Both machines are of the above configuration..! Thanks!

    Hey!
I would suggest you to update LAN drivers first, as Windows 2008 doesn't take the drivers by default...! Well you could check if the switch is working properly...! Also check if the firewall settings are appropriate. Make sure not many programs are running in the background...! If necessary remove unwanted softwares from startup...! All the best...! If still any problem post back...!
