| HP Deskjet 6940 network printer access blocked
Everything was going very well for my HP Deskjet 6940 Printer which is plugged in with RJ45 to my router. Last week the router had to be changed. In the allocation of IP for the printer I could easily assign a fixed IP, but I can not at all access the printer via the computer connected to the network. Even reinstalling several times on different post. The Windows XP firewall has been cut, I even put the firewall in the router to "minimum" (I do not know if it is completely shut down but it accepts the incoming and outgoing ...). Have you any idea what might block access to the printer? |

The printer and computer are in the same IP address range? What OS are you using? Can you arrive at the printer from a computer?

You might have connected on wrong RJ45 port on the router when you connect your printer? A little test that you can do is put your printer to DHCP, and see the ip that the router gives it. With the IP given by the router, you just do a ping to the printer from a PC.

I first put my printer in DHCP, the ip that the router gave me was the 192.168.1.14. I just tried with that but it does not ping. |

The printer is configured with the same subnet mask and gateway as computers? If so I'm afraid the problem is related to an incompatibility of the router to serve the printer with RJ45.
