    hi,
Is this not just a way to use bluetooth instead of Wlan/Wi-Fi?? Now that its possible to use bluetooth up to 100metres (300feet) away it is a real alternative to Wi-Fi. Because if there is an app for the phone to use a Wi-Fi connection to connect to the internet that would mean that you could walk in any where where there was Wi-Fi in use and get internet access on your phone for free?!?!? That would be great but surely an antivirus/firewall would stop the phone from sharing access to the net? Also is this not a security threat if people can use their phones bluetooth to access Wi-Fi they could steal details etc....? bluetooth can be used through walls.

However using Bluetooth LAN access to use mobile Internet has major advantage: much higher security because: range (coverage) is much smaller, so hackers has less possbility to even reach the network (practically zero chances if you use it inside of your house), and also the transmission can be encrypted and users need to know special pass code, to access it. the power that mobile device needs to use mobile Internet with help of Bluetooth LAN access is much smaller than in case of Wi-Fi usage. On the other hand speed achievable in Bluetooth LAN access is maximally 723 Kbps compared to 11 Mbps in case of Wi-Fi. In practice however this difference is not visible and access with Bluetooth LAN access is practically equally fast as Wi-Fi.

please make sure that if you are using bluetooth you need to create a dial up connection using bluetooth dun as a modem.
you have to pair your cell with your pc. after pairing you can double click on yourrespective cell to start the services you will find all top features highlighted on your bluetooth service window double click on dial up connection and for dial up will appear and click on dial you will be connected if your service provider has provided you with a gprs connection.

To find devices in range you can click the Bluetooth menu and select Search for devices or open Entire Bluetooth Neighborhood and press F5.

Pairing a phone and laptop will ensure the connection can be established whenever you require it and you don’t have to go through the set-up process each time. If you do not pair the two devices you will have to make the phone discoverable each time.
