Multiple servers with one public IP

Sponsored Links
Hello,
I want to install multiple servers About two or three which could be published on the net. Does this pose a problem since I have only one public IP address for which I will take a custom dns dyndns in order to have my own domain name.

Thank you

Re: Multiple servers with one public IP

if you speak web server, you can use apache with mod_proxy front that redirects to a web server that will function well in demand.

In fact, the idea is to have a smtp server, a mail server with webmail, sends pop, imap and webmail and Nas who publishes ftp. The mod_proxy can do the trick? In fact, I said that all servers are on the same domain name but with different prefixes (smtp.exemple.net, mail.exemple.net)

Re: Multiple servers with one public IP

Hello,

Given what you describe, I guess that you have several machines behind the same Internet access and therefore there is an element that acts as a router. It is at this one you have to act so that the requests arriving on some ports are redirected to the machine hosting the service.

In the case of a box, you will easily find several tutorials dedicated. If you use a router, you need to look more specifically for this model there. If it is a computer that acts as a router, then it depends on the OS and / or the application that handles routing.

The principle remains the same regardless of the equipment, it's only a matter of interface.

Re: Multiple servers with one public IP

Hello,
It is exactly this, except that I intend to use my virtual machines to a single physical machine. So if I understand what happens I have to make a port forwarding, although in the internal network machines are differentiated by a prefix and that I just need the ports so that my appications work.

I believe I have setting in the router the static routes (I have a box but the firewall is disabled and I am using a router to share the connection and the firewall)? Sorry, but I started in terms of network architecture, for the moment nothing is in place, I learn to know what to do before getting started.

Re: Multiple servers with one public IP

you must specify your router where the flows are redirected.
  • Port 80 redirected to the private IP of your webserver
  • 25110143 ports redirected to the private IP of your mail server
