    Global Address List POP

I am the admin of an Exchange server on a network of fifty PC. Everything works, it is on an Exchange Server 2003.

For remote sites, since they are not on the field, we propose the solution OWA (Outlook Web Access). As against it, it shows its limits as it passes through Internet Explorer.

We activated the POP protocol and it works, remote users have no access to mail to all users as we can have in the Global Address List.

I know that the global address list is used in online mode while POP is a way out, but I wanted to know if there was a solution to retrieve this list? And they update as emails?

    Re: Global Address List POP

With the introduction of cached mode in Outlook 2003 and higher, the Exchange offline address book has become more critical.

This has caused a number of new issues to be seen, or old ones more regularly:

    - Changes made to accounts or lists and not being seen in the global address list on the Outlook 2003 clients.
    - Error messages being logged in Exchange or Outlook.

    Thank you!

Indeed, it seems to do what I search, there's more to test.

Another question if you know, OWA, the people create folders to sort the mails over the Inbox. For against, with POP, it does not synchronize the files, an idea?

I think that this is possible with the POP3 protocol. IMAP would be best suited to your needs. Why not use it?

But I tested, and the concern is I had a few bugs with the "IMAP Folders" never too understood what it was. And more, when you click on an email, it automatically downloaded and the PC was blocked during this time ....

In fact, the IMAP folders are folders in your box that you can save or not.
For example, you can have 50 files at work, but they decide to subscribe to that at home 5 for clarity.

For how indeed IMAP download a mail when you open it, and headers that when you click "send receive", whereas the POP you download it all initially.
    Get what you prefer.

In short how IMAP seems more suited to the connections of today and the behavior of users with their mailboxes, though many people still prefer POP3 to this more simple and more "traditional" if I say.
